Arsenal appointing Mikel Arteta could teach Manchester United a big managerial lesson
ARSENAL going for Mikel Arteta may seem a gamble to many - but it could be what stops them from becoming like Manchester United.
Arteta has surged into pole position to be Arsenal’s next manager with the Gunners keen for the Spaniard to be Arsene Wenger’s replacement.
Many fans on social media appear aggrieved at the potential decision. Arteta is a man who, with just two years of coaching under his belt at Manchester City, seems too raw to deal with one of the biggest jobs in football.
Because that’s what the Arsenal job is now. Whether it be Arteta, Luis Enrique, Max Allegri or Patrick Vieira, the next manager of the north London side is inheriting a squad sorely in need of stardust.
And that’s why appointing the 36-year-old makes perfect sense. It could also be a decision that has the potential to highlight why Manchester United are no longer the superpower they used to be.
Back in 2013, United were in a similar predicament.
