Arsenal 'closer and closer' to €30m Lucas Torreira

Arsenal 'closer and closer' to €30m Lucas Torreira

Arsenal are in concrete talks to bring Lucas Torreira to the Emirates this summer, according to reports in Italy.
The Gunners have long been linked with a move for the Sampdoria midfielder and it emerged on Friday that negotiations over the 22-year-old had taken place.
And now further reports in Italy have revealed the current state of play as talks progress between the two clubs.
Here’s a look at the latest situation involving Arsenal and Torreira, according to what the Italian media are reporting.
The situation
Torreira is known to have a €25 million release clause, but Arsenal and Sampdoria are said to be discussing other options at the request of the Serie A outfit.
The release clause would have to be paid up front in its entirety within 60 days of the deal taking place according to Sky Italia, so Arsenal are happy to discuss the possibility of paying slightly more (€30m) for the Uruguay international, but paid in instalments over a period of a few years.
Napoli are also interested in Torreira, who will be in action this summer at the World Cup, as they see the defensive midfielder as a possible replacement for Manchester City bound Jorginho.
Napoli reluctant to do business
Carlo Ancelotti’s side are believed to be willing to pay the full release clause, but are reluctant to pay the €3.5m a year wage demands that have been put forward by Torreira’s representatives, claim Gazzetta dello Sport.
The midfielder’s switch to the Emirates is said to now be getting ‘closer and closer’ say ANSA, with Sampdoria bringing in Croatian star Lovro Majer as a replacement.
